The Bangalore Startup Map is a directory of startups in Bengaluru. You can browse all of it without an account, and without being asked for anything.
If you sign in
Signing in is optional and uses Google. We ask Google for your basic profile and your email address — never your contacts, calendar, files or anything else. Out of what Google sends back, we keep only your name, email address and account id. We store:
- your Google account id, email address and name;
- the job tracks and experience levels you pick;
- anything you type into the optional “Anything else?” box on your preferences, in your own words, so we can narrow your matches to it;
- the ids of roles you save;
- the time you last opened your jobs page, so we can show what is new;
- the date and time you created your account and last changed your settings.
That is the whole list. We do not store your browsing history on the site, and we do not build a profile of you.
Deleting it
Go to your preferences and choose “Delete account and saved jobs”. It is immediate and permanent: the record and every saved role are removed. You can also email aditi.tibarewal2604@gmail.com and we will do it for you.
Other things you can give us
- Newsletter. If you subscribe we keep your email address, and the job title and company you optionally typed. Ask to be removed by emailing aditi.tibarewal2604@gmail.com.
- Survey. The three-question survey is anonymous — no email, no IP address, no identifier of any kind. We store the page you were on, the date and time you answered, and the answers themselves. We cannot tie a response back to a person, which is also why we cannot delete an individual one.
- Submitting a company. We keep what you type in the form so we can check the company and add it to the map.
- Advertising. If you buy a slot we keep your contact details, what you submitted, and your payment screenshot, so we can run and account for the ad.
- Guide purchase. If you buy the Bangalore 101 Survival Guide, payment is processed on Dodo's hosted checkout — Dodo collects and holds your payment details, we do not. We keep your email, name, the amount charged, Dodo's payment ID, and a temporary download token. Resend emails the download link; we do not send it ourselves.
Analytics
We use Umami to count page views, clicks and rough location. Microsoft Clarity does the same, but additionally records session replays — a reconstruction of what happened on screen, including mouse movement, scrolling, clicks, and the page as it rendered. Clarity is not loaded on admin pages.
Clarity masks form input values by default, but if you are signed in and viewing the Preferences tab of your jobs page, the replay captures the email address as shown in the text “Signed in as [your email]”. We do not connect either analytics tool to your account or use the data to build a personal profile.
Who else sees it
We do not sell or share personal data. Your personal data — name, email, preferences, saved jobs — is stored with Supabase and Vercel, which process it on our behalf.
Your browser also contacts several services directly, sending your IP address:
- CARTO — to fetch map tiles. Your IP is sent on every pan and zoom.
- Google Favicons — to fetch company logos. Every grid page view sends your IP to Google.
- Google Maps — embedded on VC detail pages to show office locations. Google sees your IP and any interaction with the map.
- Umami and Microsoft Clarity — for analytics. Both see rough location derived from your IP.
None of these services receive your name, email, or account data, except Microsoft Clarity when you are signed in and on the Preferences tab — as described above.
